Sam Smith

Sam Smith

Managing Director

Sam joined Brian and Angela in the family business in May 2011 as a 16 year old, not sure what to do after school and unsure if the funeral industry was for him. After realising he had the right amount of care, compassion, and respect to help families through such a difficult time along with special thanks from families for organising a service or ceremony they will cherish, he decided this was the profession for him and has now been proudly running the company along side his sister, Shauni, since 2019.

Brian & Angela Smith

Brian & Angela Smith

Founders

Brian Smith started the business in Sept 1992 with help from his father and father-in-law in Peterculter. Over the years he opened a branch in Banchory and also Aboyne.  In 1997 Angela took over the admin and general duties. They ran the business with hard working colleagues and often help from friends and family, while the family (Sam and Shauni) grew up. Sam and Shauni both followed into the business and helped move our main office into a purpose built building in Banchory. Brian and Angela took early retirement (staying on as directors), leaving the family business in capable hands. Brian opened Baldarroch Crematorium in 2016 and is a director there, enjoying a small active role .
